[gammu] port = DEVICE NAME connection = fbusdku5
Gammu version >=1.0.10 (rpm mandrake) supports all functions WITH ORIGINAL NOKIA CABLE (TI 3410 chipset from Texas Instruments). You have to download and compile the module for your kernel for the cable. For this go to www.brimson.com in section downloads and get ti_bus module source for ibm pc. For myself i prefer to build the srpm package for my linux box (Mandrake 9.2 - 2.4.22-10mdk). Insert the module manually because the script which is included in the srpm is wrong (insmod ti_bus.o , after you plug the cable). /dev/usb/ti/X is the device for communication (where X is the number of device - 0 for the first phone and 1,2,3 if you are lucky to buy more :)) ). You can make a symlink just for fun in /dev directory for the real path (it makes no diference). OK. Now is the funny part. Connect the phone to the cable. For test, start minicom or picocom with the device /dev/usb/ti/0 for example and connection 115200 8N1 and say AT. That's right: this phone is fun-tastik. It's a full compatible AT powerful modem. You can send sms from the minicom, why do you need gammu? (:P). Ok. Now for the gammu project you can use 2 type of connections: at115200 pure modem connection, and fbusdku5 (IN LINUX, BELIVE ME!!!). Edit .gammurc in your ~ folder. If you do not have this file, gammu won't run. You must specify only the port and the connection (see the gammurc example). Finish. fbusdku5 is for advaced function such as filesystem handling and multimedia. at115200 is for stable modem connection (NOT for filesystem and multimedia). Now you can give command line examples: "gammu --getfilesystem" or "gammu --getfile a:/path/to/the/file" - for view and download files. Read more about gammu from this website.
PS: NOKIA 3220 is the best phone in the market (SE K500i and K700i, even with mpeg4 player and memory SUCKS!), and you must buy the origial NOKIA DKU5 cable and NOT PROLIFIC CABLE (pl2303 module sucks also :)) ).
